Goldie's Cole Slaw

If you've ever eaten Goldie's Cole Slaw, you know that it is the best ever! As a matter fact, it is about the only coleslaw I will eat. I tried this recipe tonight. It wasn't exact (as I hear they mix some of their bread and butter pickle juice in with their's) but it was pretty darn close...it was YUMMY!!!

8 cups (one small head) cabbage, shredded or sliced thin
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
3/4 cup mayonnaise

Mix all together and allow to stand several hours or overnight.

  1. Glad to see you're back in the saddle again! These are the ingredients I have used to try to duplicate Goldies slaw, too. I may have to try adding a bit of pickle juice to see what happens!

  2. Part 1 - slaw seasoning

    10# sugar
    1 cup salt
    1 cup pepper
1 heaping TBSP of garlic powder

    Part 2 - slaw

    3 cups slaw seasoning
    2.5 gallons mayo
    8# cabbage

Mix well. Cover. Refrigerate for 8 hours before serving.

That is the real deal recipe. Restaurant sized batch you probably need to cut it down substantially as the above would make a whole bunch of portions.

  3. I digress from the topic at hand but how about another famous Tulsa recipe...Ron's Chili

    10# Suet
    20# Beef
    10# Pork

Ron's Chili Seasoning unknown quantity (a cup maybe?)

    Cook over medium-high fire

Corn Flour to thicken. Water to thin out.

Lots of paprika at the last to add color.

    NO tomatoes or tomato products!

  5. I got this recipe from a former employee.

    2.5 lb sugar
    ¼ cup salt
    ¼ cup black pepper
    ½ Tbsp garlic powder
    Pickle juice
    Mix all ingredients well.
Combine ¼ cup spice mix, ¼ cup heavy mayo, and 1 lb cole slaw mix. Mix well. Chill
    and serve.
That is the real deal recipe. Restaurant sized batch, so you probably need to cut it down
substantially as the above would make a whole bunch of portions, or just store the unused
    mix. It’ll keep for years.

  6. This is NOT the recipe- it calls for the signature bread and butter pickle juice, not just "pickle juice".

  7. There is no pickle juice in the real coleslaw recipe but sometimes employees would add their own twists. The recipes above look correct
